Jacqueline Steinberg of Eve Mode Design recently remodeled two Beach Cities kitchens, one in Manhattan Beach and one in Hermosa Beach.

The Manhattan Beach home is owned by Turkish Americans who wanted a kitchen that better reflected their taste and lifestyle needs.  “Their overall goal  was to create a harmonious and comfortable environment that is conducive to entertaining both family and friends,” Steinberg said. That meant removing a wall, updating the cabinets, designing a new island and changing the window coverings, light fixtures and appliances. the hardwood floors were darkened and the wall colors refreshed. The adjacent breakfast room was changed to include a large banquette with storage and new furniture, window treatments and lighting. True to their Turkish culture, they chose neutral colors with interesting accessories and accent pieces. The cabinets and construction were done by Bradco Kitchen and Bath.

The young owners of the Hermosa Beach cottage-style beach house needed to redesign their floor plan in preparation for a new family. the overall goal was to maximize the space usage and flow by changing the structural layout of the dining room, kitchen and laundry and adding a bathroom, Steinberg said, all while using sustainable materials whenever possible. they wanted the resulting environment to feel more spacious, bright and airy.

To achieve this, existing walls were removed between the kitchen, dining room and laundry. New cabinetry, flooring, windows, surface materials, appliances, fixtures and an island were added reflect the owner’s casual, comfortable and colorful style. The construction was done by D.C. Mitchell General Contractor and the cabinetry was completed by Bradco Kitchens and Bath.
